April 5 - The Freshman Panthers hosted Bob Jones and came up short in
both games by a run. Pitching by Bob Jones was effective and the Panthers just had trouble hitting anything solid off
them.
Game 1
Panthers 4 Bob Jones 5 - The
Panthers trailed the whole game until the 4th inning when they made a run at it and totaled 4 runs to tie up the
score. Both teams held each other in the 5th to put it into extra innings where the Bob Jones bats came through
for one run to win the game. Taking the mound for the Panthers was Robinson for 5 innings and Poe for the close.

came back and blanked Bob Jones defensively. Trey Wimberly put together 3 great short stop plays to send them to the
dugout. But as before in the first game, the Panthers just couldn’t put enough hits together to score in the end.
Getting the call on the mound for Huntsville was Ponder for 3 innings and Wisener for 2. Batting was Rotenberger 3,
Wimberly 1, Wisener 1, Goldman a double with 2 RBI’s, Hicklin a double with an RBI, and Poe 1.
April 3 Panthers 11, Hazel Green 0 -
The Freshman Panthers had a long week so far and their pitchers were showing some wear after 6 games. Lending a hand
were two freshman from the JV ranks that helped the Panthers run-rule Hazel Green in 5 innings with an 11-0 win.
It was sweet to give back some of what they had received earlier in the week. The Panthers defense was giving nothing
to Hazel Green and with heads-up base running by all it ensured a shutout. Taking the mound was Probst for 2 innings
and Beasley for 3 innings. Batting stats were Wimberly 1, Beasley 1, Probst 1 and an RBI with a double, Hicklin 1 with
2 RBI’s, Wisener 3 with 3 RBI’s with 2 doubles, Rotenberger 1 with an RBI, Thompson 1 and an RBI and Connor with

Game 1 Panthers 11 Grissom 7 - For the first 3 innings the Panthers trailed the Tigers then

an unassisted double play by Drew Connor. Getting the call on the mound for Huntsville was Letson for an inning and

Feb-27 - Freshman Panthers Take 2 from Grissom to go 4-0 for the
regular season.
Game 1: Huntsville 3 - Grissom 1: Although the Panther’s bats were cold their defense and pitching helped
to down the Grissom Tigers with a 3-1 win. Getting the start
and the win on the mound for the Panthers was Nick Cook. He pitched 4 innings with 6 strike-outs and just two hits to
cage the Tigers. Hayden Goldman came in for the 3 up and 3 down close. To note, Ryan Moore made a great cover-up
play in shallow center. On an over throw to second, he charged the ball and threw the runner out at home. Brewer Hicklen
guarded the plate to deny the run. Also, Hayden Goldman did a great job of backing up a missed double play at first
and throwing the advancing runner out at second to end the game. As stated their bats were cold, with only one hit and
2 RBIs from Jared Wisener. The third run was scored by a Grissom balk.
Game 2: Huntsville 2 - Grissom 1: Huntsville’s bats were a bit warmer in the second game against Grissom for a tough
fought win. Taking the mound for Huntsville was Trey Poe who totaled 4 innings, 4 strike-outs, with no hits and 1 run.
Trey and Jared hooked up for a snappy pick-off at first in the second inning. Finishing in the last inning with a quick
3 up and 3 down with 1 strike out was Ben Letson. Brewer Hicklen did another fine job behind the plate at catching,
fending off any chance of Grissom getting in to score. Batting for the Panthers was Trey Wimberly with a smash
double and an RBI to right center, Adam Thompson with a sac bunt to put a runner in scoring position and Bryant Ponder with
2 hits and the winning RBI.

bats cooled off in the first 3 innings but Cullman took only a one run lead the first two innings. Pitching was still
very good and as with the last game the Panthers had zero errors to record throughout the game. Pitching for the Panthers
were Bryant Ponder for 4 innings and 6 strikeouts and finishing up in the last inning was Hayden Goldman with one strikeout.
Cullman thought they would advance runners in the third inning for a lead until Drew Connor had a run-down putout in between
3rd and 2nd. Batting was cool until the 4th inning and the Panthers lit up the field
