2010 Pre-Season Gameday Results
Feb.
23st - The Panther Freshman
came up short in a game against Sparkman 7-6. Pitching for the Panthers was Nick Cook and Ben Letson.
Nick pitched for 3 innings with 5 strikeouts and Ben pitched the last inning. Batting for the Panthers was solid, it
just came too late in the game. Batting contributions were Trey Wimbley with a hit, Ryan Moore with 2 hits and an RBI,
Trey Poe with a hit, Jared Wisener had 3 hits and 3 RBI’s, Drew Connor had an RBI, Hayden Goldman had a hit, Tristan
Hughes had a hit and an RBI. Bryant Ponder also had a hit. A great diving catch was made in left center by Teddy Rotenberger.
The difference in the game was the Panthers had trouble defensively.
Feb 20 - Second Game Saturday 2-20 Huntsville Panthers
5, Grissom Tigers 3: In the second game the Panthers turned up the excitement. Pitching for the Panthers were Chad Robinson
that pitched 3-2/3 great innings and Nick Cook that came into a tough 4th inning with 2 outs and two on in scoring
position. Chad had a low pitch count and one strikeout for the innings and the Panther defense turned it up a notch.
Nick Cook pitched 1-1/3 innings with 3 strikeouts and no runs. To finalize the game with three on in the bottom of the
fifth, Trey Wimberly made a great running snag at short, for the running putout at second to end the game and squelch the
Tigers comeback. Panther batting was strong throughout the game. Ryan Moore had another great showing with 2 hits, Hayden
Goldman had one hit and 2 RBI’s, I want to note that Hayden hit the SAC Fly to bring in the winning run for the Panthers,
Jared Wisener was strong with a double, single and 2 RBI’s, Tristan Hughes had 2 singles, Brewer Hicklen an RBI with
a SAC Fly, and Drew Connor with a hit in the third. This was a hard fought win for the Panthers and it showed great
character toward the end of the game.
First Game Saturday Feb-20 Huntsville Panthers 5, Hartselle Tigers 5
- The Panthers
tied, yes I said tied, the Hartselle Tigers 5-5 in the first game on Saturday. Pitching for the Panthers, Trey Poe had
three solid innings with 3 strikeouts, Gunner Scarano 1-2/3 innings and 1 strikeout and Hayden Goldman came on the mound in
a tight situation to ring up the final out with a great pick off to third to end the game. Both teams had their issues
with errors. In the hitting area Trey Wimberly started the Panthers off with a lead-off double, then the Panthers bats
went quiet until the top of the fifth inning when they came back from being down 4-2 to take the lead 5-4. Panthers
contributing to batting were, Trey Wimberly a double, Ryan Moore 2 hits. 2 RBI’s, Trey Poe RBI, Tristan Hughes hit,
Brewer Hicklen hit.
Feb 17 - The Freshman Panthers got off to a great start with a 5-1 win over Cullman in the opening game of

earned runs. Nick Cook faced 10 batters in two innings and recorded 4 strikeouts, Bryant Ponder faced 11 batters with
2 strikeouts and Hayden Goldman faced four batters with one strikeout. The Panther bats were cold until the 4th
inning when they came alive with a great Sac bunt from Trey Wimberly to advance two runners to scoring position and then continued
with 3 hits and 4 runs. Contributing hits and RBI’s in the game were Ryan Moore with a hit and an RBI, Trey Poe
with 2 hits and 2 RBI’s, Jared Wisener with a hit and RBI, Hayden Goldman with a hit and an RBI.
