Meet the Coaching Staff

Mark
Mincher - Head Coach and Athletic
Director Coach Mincher is a 1975 graduate of Hazel Green High School. During his high school athletic career,
he played basketball, football and baseball. He was an All-County selection in basketball (1 year), football (2 years), and
baseball (3 years). After high school, Mark signed a baseball scholarship with Memphis State University where he was a four
year starter (1976-1979). During this period Memphis State went 131-49 with 2 NCAA Regional Tournament appearances.
Mark started his coaching career at Monrovia Middle
School where he remained for two years before moving to Sparkman High School in 1983. He became Head Coach at Sparkman the
following year in 1984. Kevin Wieseman, HHS Head Football Coach, started at 3rd base on Mark?s first team as Head Coach at
Sparkman. Sparkman also made their first trip to the State Baseball Playoffs in 1984. Mark's record at Sparkman was 29-14.
Mark moved to Huntsville High in the 1985-86
school year. HHS made their first trip to the State Playoffs under his direction in 1988, making it all the way to the final
4. During his 19 years at HHS, the Panthers have won or shared 10 City Championships, won 7 Area Championships, and made 12
appearances in the State Playoffs. Mark?s record at HHS is 337-239 for a career total 366-250. Mark also serves as the HHS
Athletic Director and teaches Algebra I.
Mark
and his wife, Nancy, have two children. Their son, Wade, is 21 and the daughter, Allyson is 18.
David Sharp - Junior Varsity Head Coach Coach Sharp is in his fourth year of coaching at Huntsville High School after spending nine years at Lee High
School. He graduated from Lee High School in 1989 earning a baseball scholarship to Faulkner University in Montgomery.
Along with his coaching duties, David teaches English. David and his wife, Angie, have two children. Their son, Austin, is
9 and their daughter, Hannah, is 6. Assistant
